Overview: The Malteagle is a cross
between a Beagle
and a Maltese, resulting in an affectionate, playful, loving, and
energetic devoted puppy. The Malteagle can display characteristics from
either the Beagle or the Maltese.
Breed Group: Designer Breed
Weight: The average weight of a standard Malteagle can range between 15
to 22 pounds. The "Cherub" ranges from 7 to 14 pounds.
Height: The average height for the standard Malteagle can range between
13 to 16 inches. The average height range for the "Cherub" is 9 to 12
inches.
Color: The Malteagle comes in an array of color combinations from solid
colors to tricolors and bi-colors.
Coat: The Malteagle's coat can be long and feel like cotton or short
and thick.
Care
& Grooming: The Malteagle requires regular combing or brushing
to
prevent matting in the long hair coat as well as the short coat due to
the thickness.
Shedding: Some Malteagle are non-shedding while others shed slightly.
Behavior: The malteagle is very intelligent. They love to follow their
noses and are great at tracking scents.
Character/Personality: The Malteagle are gentle, curious, devoted and
very loving pets. They do very well with children and make wonderful
sidekicks. The are very sociable and accepting of new people.
Training: Malteagles are extremely intelligent and can learn quickly
with positive reinforcement.
Activity/Exercise: The Malteagle is an active little guy. Regular walks
or running in the yard with children or another pet is recommended to
expel penned up energy.
Living arrangements: Malteagles are active dogs. They need areas to
play and run. A yard or regular walks, and toys to occupy their time
when left alone.
